1. Introduction

Zufan Purchase (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a mobile application for Ethiopian businesses to scan purchase receipts, track input VAT, and generate VAT reports. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Zufan Purchase app and related services.

By using the app, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information we collect

Account & company information

  • Name and email address (via Google Sign-In)
  • Business name, TIN, and company profile details you provide
  • Selected company and user preferences

Purchase & receipt data

  • Receipt images you capture or upload
  • Extracted fields: vendor name, TIN, amounts, VAT, dates, line items, and related metadata
  • Purchase records, categories, and VAT reporting period assignments

Device & usage data

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • Diagnostic and usage information to maintain and improve the service

3. Permissions we use

  • Camera: To photograph purchase receipts for scanning and VAT record-keeping.
  • Notifications: To send optional VAT filing deadline reminders (7, 3, and 1 days before, and on the due date).
  • Internet: To sync data, authenticate, and process receipt extraction.

We do not read your SMS messages in Zufan Purchase.

4. How we use your information

  • Extract and store purchase data from receipts using AI/OCR
  • Calculate input VAT and generate Excel VAT reports
  • Organise purchases by Ethiopian VAT reporting periods
  • Send local deadline reminders you can turn off in Settings
  • Manage subscriptions, scan credits, and referral codes
  • Provide customer support and improve app reliability

5. Data storage & retention

Data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, and Cloud Storage where applicable). Receipt storage limits and retention periods depend on your plan (for example, free plans may store up to 100 receipts for 2 months; Pro plans allow higher limits).

When receipts expire under your plan limits, they may no longer appear in reports or exports.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only:

  • With service providers that help us operate the app (e.g. Google Firebase, Google Sign-In)
  • When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
  • With your consent

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections and Firebase security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you use the app at your own risk regarding unauthorised access beyond our reasonable controls.

8. Your choices & rights

  • Review and edit purchase data before saving receipts
  • Turn VAT deadline notifications on or off in Settings
  • Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your account data where applicable under local law

9. Children

Zufan Purchase is intended for business users and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
